Creative Geological Survey Team
The Creative Geological Survey Team is a collaboration between Benjamin Bird and Leah Carvell that brings together a body of work, exploring human relationships to their immediate familiar landscape, and the geological history beneath it. Bird and Carvell appear performing as the fictional investigative duo Hugo Silex and Fi Partridge, founders of the equally fictitious Creative Geological Survey Team. The CGST playfully contemplates time, history, nature, bodies and deep human connections to landscape through photography, performance, video and changing installation.
These ideas and works came out of a response to the Isolation, restrictions and altered perception of time during the United Kingdoms multiple Coronavirus lockdowns.
The images below are installation documentation of the teams research presentation A study of land and time for Letchworth Cultural Project 2021.
